Some of us at Optimal Designs Enterprise have been promoting Calculus-level Software on an on/off basis since 1975. PROSE was first commercial language in 1974. PROSE received its start at TRW, Inc. on a contract from NASA. PROSE was available on Time-Sharing computers from 1974 to early 1980s. Fortran Calculus is the second commercial Calculus Language.
Algebraic thru Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) are solved (code wise) within 8 hours! Presently, PDEs require converting to a system of ODEs then a few days to solve. Equations may be constrained, non-linear, implicit, Nth order, etc. If your problem is a real world problem, it can be solved with Fortran Calculus.

For many Simulation programs a knowledgeable user manually tweaks parameters until their measuring stick says job done. Put that measuring stick into an Objective function and you have an optimization problem for the Fortran Calculus language. The heart of an optimization problem is its objective function. From a company's president down to the engineers and/or scientists doing the work need to work as a team. Each member must share with other team members his/her design objectives in order to have a complete objective function for any given problem.

brief bio of Optimal Designs Enterprise
The first commercial version of a Calculus langauge was called PROSE. Some of us taught PROSE from 1975-79 to engineers in the silicon valley, CA. During 1979-85 we worked at a Disc Drive company's read-write dept. PROSE was used to develop a Matched Filter (see Match-n-Freq ) where minimizing intersymbol interference (ISI) was our goal. An isolated pulse was modeled with 3 Lorentzian curves (see CurvFit ). Pulse slimming helped minimize the ISI. The Rainbow program idea came at Lockheed Missiles & Space Co. Signals were found below 50 dB from main signal. Prony, Autocorr, Burg's, & 10 other spectral estimators were tried and compared. Great results (see Rainbow ).
